about
This song is about my early sobriety and addiction and it was released on April 15th, 2024. That date marked 7 years sober for me. There are times I still feel chased by my decisions with addiction and that’s what this song represents to me. But it also reminds me I made the choice to stop and have every day since that date 7 years ago. I hope this encourages anyone who feels struggle that you can forgive yourself and each day is an opportunity to move on and remember you have that choice.
lyrics
Hiding between us
Lying is a kind of silence, ya know
Giving an open palm here
keep taking it’s free to harm here, ya know
I’m sick of asking
Quietly please just ignore
Each day in passing
The devil behind my door
The devil behind my door
The devil behind my door
Trying to make you show me
I’m ready to leave here lonely, ya know
I’ll stop you can keep on talking and
This time I’ll keep on walking, alone
I’m sick of asking
Quietly please just ignore
Each day in passing
The devil behind my door
The devil behind my door
The devil behind my door
I’m the ghost that your leaving
I have wept at your feet,
I’m the ghost in your memory
I’m the ghost that your leaving
I have wept at your feet
I’m the ghost but you’re leaving me
I’m sick of asking
Quietly please just ignore
Each day in passing
The devil behind my door
The devil behind my door
The devil behind my door
The devil behind my door

Ten gorgeous compositions from Iceland’s Gísli Gunnarsson that ride the line between ambient & modern classical. Breathtaking. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 25, 2023
58918012’s hatred of piano inspired him to build an entire album around the instrument—which, ironically, led to gorgeous music. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 22, 2023
